I've finally gotten some time to sit down & write about this. (it has been a crazy week) And I'm hoping that you got to do what I got to do..
I got to spend the day w/ my mom, who is the most amazing lady ever. (don't we all think that? well, actually no... if your mom was Joan Crawford) Toward the end of February I lost my Dad after a long battle w/ Alzheimers, but she lost her everything - they had been together for 65 years - 62 married; and she is struggling with how to BE without the love of her life, her beloved partner, her boyfriend. Some members of the family have been, for lack of a better word, jackasses to her, and she's struggling w/ that too. Fortunately she has some amazing caring neighbors, and between them & the rest of us we keep an eye on her - on Mother's Day, it was my turn.
I made her favorite Pink Lemonade Cake, brought her a whole bunch of live flowers and we spent the day roaming about in the yard planting stuff, then had some cake.
It was a terrific day in the company of a terrific lady. I'm so glad to have her for my mom, wouldn't trade her for anything. I hope you got to spend the day w/ your mom - cherish her while you have her - if there are any bumps in your relationship, get over it. You don't get your mom for life, just hers.
