Last night was my "inaugural" farmer's market experience, and lemme tellya... it was awful. The venue is lovely, my fellow vendors are lovely, even my display wasn't half bad... But it poured. Rain, rain, rain and more rain. I have a bone to pick with the weatherman who said "scattered showers" - looks like they were all scattered in one place for four hours.
My tent leaked. My neighbor's tent leaked. Everyone's tent leaked. Those of us who only had leaky tents were a lot better off than the vendors who ended up standing in a swamp.. with leaky tents over their heads. The only thing not dampened were spirits.
to say it rained is like saying that Rocky got a black eye in one of his movies - his face was hamburger by the end of every fight. It rained like that. Absolutely every single thing I brought w/ me is soaked thru. My soaps don't like to get wet unless they're by a sink or shower. They're all on racks, again, drying out for next time.
But in spite of all, a handful of folks did visit the market & shop local. Yay!! So thanks... and pray for no rain next Friday from 3-8 (the market is open 4-7, but a dry set up & take down would be appreciated, ok Mother Nature?)
